OPERATION SINDOOR : INDIAN ARMED FORCES CARRIED OUT PRECISION STRIKE AT TERRORIST CAMPS
Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7, 2025, as a precise and calibrated response to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen. The operation targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), focusing on key hubs linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, such as those in Bahawalpur and Muridke. Indian forces employed advanced weaponry, including BrahMos missiles, loitering munitions, and Sukhoi-30 MKI jets, to destroy these targets with minimal collateral damage, ensuring no civilian areas or Pakistani military facilities were hit, demonstrating significant restraint.
The operation resulted in the elimination of over 100-170 terrorists, including high-value targets linked to prior attacks like Pulwama and the IC-814 hijacking. In response, Pakistan launched retaliatory drone and missile attacks on Indian civilian and military targets between May 8-10, which were effectively neutralized by India’s advanced air defense systems, including the Akashteer and S-400 systems, intercepting over 600 drones and multiple missiles. India’s counterstrikes also crippled 11 Pakistani airbases, including Nur Khan, Jacobabad, and Bholari, with 42 Pakistani military personnel reportedly killed, though India maintained its focus on terrorist infrastructure initially.
Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah, emphasized the operation’s success as a demonstration of India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and its ability to strike deep into enemy territory while maintaining strategic restraint. The operation exposed vulnerabilities in Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied military hardware, with systems like the HQ-9 air defense and Wing Loong-II drones underperforming against Indian defenses. Additionally, evidence of Pakistani military officials attending terrorist funerals underscored Pakistan’s complicity in supporting terrorism, as highlighted by Indian diplomatic efforts led by Shashi Tharoor in international forums.
A ceasefire was agreed upon on May 10, 2025, following intense diplomatic pressure and India’s decisive military actions. However, the operation is seen as a temporary containment of the terrorism threat rather than a permanent solution, with Indian forces remaining vigilant for future provocations. Detailed briefings, supported by satellite imagery and videos, have been shared to counter Pakistani propaganda and affirm the operation’s precision and success.
